Water Heater Rusty: Joven JH35 Replacement

Homeone replaced a “Water Heater Rusty” unit at Sunglade Condo. The corroded Joven JH35 was replaced with a new JSH35, including stainless steel components and PUB-compliant fittings.

Before Replacement:

The existing Joven JH35 water heater had an internal tank leak and severe rusting, evident through discoloured water and a compromised ceiling. The heater was outdated and lacked essential components like a backflow prevention valve.

After Replacement:

A new Joven JSH35 was installed, complete with stainless steel piping and fittings, electrical bonding, and backflow prevention. The system is now safer, cleaner, and compliant with PUB regulations, providing the household with peace of mind.

Inspection Findings

  • Water marks and rust on the ceiling below the heater
  • Active leak from the lower pipe joint on the tank
  • Lack of the approved check valve
  • Tank corrosion was internal leaks which is beyond repair.

New Components Replacement

  • Stainless Steel Fittings – Rust-resistant connections.
  • 2.5mm Cable – Ensures proper electrical earthing.
  • Stainless Steel Pipe – For hygienic and durable water lines.
  • Earth Bonding – Protects against electrical faults.
  • Double Check Valve – Prevents contaminated water backflow.
  • Gate Valve – Allows isolation during maintenance.

Replacement work scope:

  • Dismantle and dispose of the JH35 unit.
  • Supply and install a new Joven JSH35.
  • Replace all piping and fittings within 1m.
  • Install the earth bonding.
  • Install a double check valve, a gate valve and the drainpipe.
  • Test and commission the system.
  • Perform the water pressure test and water temperature test under PUB-licensed plumber supervision

PUB Submission at Sunglade

Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:

  1. All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
  2. The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
  3. The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
  4. The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.

Conclusion:

All works were completed by Homeone’s technician under the supervision of a Licensed PUB Plumber. The installation is fully compliant with PUB and SS636 regulations. PUB submission was completed post-installation.
