Water Heater Corrosion Replacement at Rio Vista

The homeowner discovered their existing water heater had severe corrosion and was leaking internally. Due to its age and condition, they contacted Homeone for a replacement solution.

The existing Rheem 81VP6S water heater showed signs of advanced internal tank corrosion, resulting in continuous leakage. The unit had exceeded its lifespan and could no longer be repaired safely, prompting an urgent upgrade request from the homeowner.

After Replacement:

A brand-new Rheem 65SVP10S heater was installed to replace the corroded unit. All critical piping, including hot, cold, and drain (within 1 metre), was upgraded to stainless steel. New compliant fittings were also installed to ensure a long-term, leak-free solution

Replacement work scope:

  • Isolate the power and water supply
  • Dismantle the leaking Rheem 81VP6S unit
  • Install a new Rheem 65SVP10S with alignment above the ceiling
  • Replace old pipes with stainless steel ones (hot, cold, and drain within 1m)
  • Install new fittings and ensure watertight connections
  • Perform the electrical bonding inspection
  • System pressure and temperature of the hot water outlet are tested
  • Submit PUB heater replacement notification
PUB Submission at Rio Vista

Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:

  1. All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
  2. The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
  3. The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
  4. The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.

Conclusion:

The replacement was executed in strict accordance with PUB plumbing and safety regulations, including all required fittings and proper equipotential bonding. Upon completion, the job was submitted to PUB for compliance documentation, ensuring the system’s durability and the owner’s peace of mind.
