Rheem Water Heater Not Working: 86H-40 Replacement at Liv on Wilkie
A homeowner at Liv on Wilkie faced a “Rheem Water Heater Not Working” issue. We resolved it with a compliant EH-40M upgrade, restoring hot water flow.

Before Replacement:

The existing Rheem 86H-40 heater at Liv on Wilkie had stopped providing hot water. Upon inspection, it was found to be beyond its lifespan, with a severe internal tank leak. The fittings were also aged and partially corroded, increasing the risk of further leaks and water damage.
After Replacement:

We replaced the faulty heater with a new Rheem EH-40M unit, along with new stainless steel fittings. All installation work was performed to PUB standards, restoring the hot water supply safely and efficiently. Ceiling areas affected by water seepage were also properly reinstated.
Inspection Findings

- The unit is aged beyond the recommended lifespan
- Corroded and leaking fittings
New Components Replaced:
- Rheem EH-40M storage water heater
- Full set of new approved check valve and fittings
- Electrical bonding cable and terminal
Replacement work scope:
- Removal and disposal of faulty Rheem 86H-40 unit
- Supply and install Rheem EH-40M
- Replacement of all pipe fittings with stainless steel (within 1 metre)
- Electrical reconnection and bonding inspection
- Final pressure and functionality testing
- PUB compliance checks and submission

Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:
- All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
- The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
- The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
- The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.

Conclusion:
All works were carried out by Homeone’s experienced technicians under the supervision of a Licensed PUB Plumber. Installation met all PUB and HDB safety standards, and formal PUB submission was completed upon job completion.
