A landed house owner at Mount Pleasant Road faced Rheem water heater corrosion. Homeone replaced it with a new EHG-50, fully compliant with PUB standards.

The customer reported tank leakage and signs of water heater corrosion. Replacement was requested due to safety concerns.

Before Replacement:

The old Rheem EHG-50 had visible corrosion on the tank body. Water leakage was present around the cold water inlet, indicating internal deterioration and posing a risk of failure and water damage to the property.
After Replacement:

A new Rheem EHG-50 unit was installed with improved safety features, including a drainpipe, a gate valve, and proper grounding. All works were executed professionally and complied fully with PUB regulations under licensed supervision.
Inspection Findings 
- Corrosion on the tank can lead to water contamination and eventual system failure.
- Leakage at the cold inlet risks water damage.
New Components Replacement
- Double Check Valve: Prevents backflow, ensuring clean water integrity in compliance with PUB.
- Drain Pipe: Enables safe discharge of excess water to avoid property damage.
- 2.5mm Cable: Grounds metal parts to reduce the risk of electric shocks.
- Earth Bonding: Connects all metallic parts for electrical safety.
- Gate Valve: Allows water flow control during service or emergencies.
Replacement work scope:
- Dismantled and disposed of the corroded Rheem EHG-50
- Supplied and installed a new Rheem EHG-50.
- Installed new gate valve and double-check valve.
- Stainless steel pipe work for cold & hot water and the drainpipe.
- Carried out earth bonding with 2.5mm cable
- Final testing for the temperature of the hot water pipe. Pressure testing for both hot and cold water.
- PUB compliance submission upon completion


Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:
- All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
- The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
- The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
- The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.
Conclusion:
Work was carried out by two Homeone-trained technicians and supervised by a PUB-licensed plumber. Upon completion, a PUB submission was made in accordance with the Public Utilities Act, ensuring the installation is fully compliant with PUB regulations.
