Before: Rheem 85VP6S

Date Of Replacement: 3 Feb 2025
Project Location: Yishun Street 81

Before Replacement:

Water Heater Corrosion (Rheem- condo) .01

The homeowner reported signs of corrosion and leakage from their existing Rheem 85VP6S storage heater. The unit had reached the end of its service life, and warranty coverage had expired. No backflow prevention or anti-vacuum safety valves were present in the original setup.

After Replacement:

Water Heater Corrosion (Rheem- condo) .02

We replaced the old Rheem 85VP6S with a new unit of the same model, now professionally fitted with an anti-vacuum valve and double check valve. The installation met PUB safety standards. Electrical bonding, drain piping, and new isolation valves were added. No more leaks after the upgrade.

Inspection Findings

  • Corroded Tank– may leak, contaminate water, or burst under pressure, posing safety, hygiene, and property damage risks.
  • No Anti-Vacuum Valve- Without an anti-vacuum valve, the tank may deform or siphon dirty water back into the system during pressure drops.
  • No Check Valve– Without a check valve, backflow may contaminate the main supply and breach PUB safety and installation regulations.

New Components Replacement

  • Anti-Vacuum Valve– It ensures that air can enter the system when necessary.
  • Double Check Valve – Prevents backflow contamination
  • Drain Pipe – Safely channels overflow water
  • 2.5mm Cable – Provides essential electrical bonding
  • Earth Bonding – Ensures electrical safety
  • Gate Valve – Allows shut-off for maintenance

Replacement work scope:

  • Dismantled and disposed of the corroded Rheem 65SVP10S
  • Supplied and installed a new Rheem EH-40M
  • Installed new gate valve and stainless steel pipework
  • Carried out earth bonding with 2.5mm cable
  • Double-check valve installation and the drainpipe installation
  • Final testing for the temperature of the hot water pipe. Pressure testing for both hot and cold water.
  • PUB compliance submission upon completion
