Joven Water Heater Not Working Replacement at 258 Serangoon Central Drive HDB on 19 Apr 2025

A resident at 258 Serangoon Central Drive HDB faced a Joven water heater not working issue. Homeone resolved it by replacing the faulty JH25 with a new JSH25 model, ensuring PUB compliance.

Before Replacement:

The old Joven JH25 heater showed no hot water delivery. Fittings were corroded, no drain pipe was installed, the electrical bonding was missing, and there was no double-check valve. The overall setup posed safety concerns and needed urgent replacement.

After Replacement:

The newly installed JSH25 heater was fitted with correct safety components, including a double check valve, drain pipe, and proper electrical bonding. All fittings were upgraded to stainless steel, ensuring safe and reliable hot water use with PUB-compliant workmanship.

Inspection Findings

  • Lacked a double-check valve and a drain pipe
  • No electrical bonding present
  • Fittings were rusted and leaking

New Components Replaced:

  • New Joven JSH25 heater
  • Double check valve
  • Stainless steel braided flexible hoses
  • Drain pipe
  • Earth bonding wire
  • Pressure relief valve
  • Proper pipe insulation

Replacement work scope:

  • Shut off the main water and electrical supply
  • Dismantled the faulty Joven JH25 unit
  • Installed new Joven JSH25 heater
  • Laid new double check valve, stainless steel inlet, outlet pipes, drainpipe and fittings
  • Re-bonded electrical earthing
  • System tested, verified hot and cold water flow
  • Site cleaned and handed over
  • Documentation for PUB submission

Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:

  1. All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
  2. The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
  3. The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
  4. The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.
