Ariston Water Heater Rusty: AN 15 R Replacement at Avalon
A homeowner at Avalon Condo faced an “Ariston Water Heater Rusty” issue due to an ageing unit. Homeone replaced it with a higher-capacity Ariston PRO RS J 25 for better performance and compliance.

Before Replacement:

The old Ariston AN 15 R showed visible rust and signs of leakage, indicating severe internal corrosion. The electrical connection box lacked a cover, posing a safety hazard. The plumbing installation also lacked a PUB-approved check valve.
After Replacement:

The faulty unit was replaced with a new Ariston PRO RS J 25. All piping was upgraded to stainless steel (within 1 metre), and all fittings and valves were renewed. The electrical connection box was replaced for improved safety and reliability.
Inspection Findings

New Components Replacement
- Ariston PRO RS J 25 heater
- Stainless steel hot, cold, and drain pipes (≤1 metre)

Replacement work scope:
- Isolate the power and water supply
- Dismantle the leaking Ariston AN 15 R unit
- Install a new Ariston PRO RS J 25 with alignment above the ceiling
- Replace old pipes with stainless steel ones (hot, cold, and drain within 1m)
- Install new fittings and ensure watertight connections
- Perform the electrical bonding inspection
- Electrical safety upgrade with new connector box
- System pressure and temperature of the hot water outlet are tested
- Submit PUB heater replacement notification


Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:
- All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
- The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
- The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
- The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.
Conclusion:
The above ceiling replacement was carried out by a team of two Homeone technicians (one team lead and one technician), supervised by a Licensed PUB Plumber. All plumbing and electrical works were completed in accordance with PUB regulations. PUB submission was made post-installation to ensure full regulatory compliance.
