At a landed home in Ban Guan Park, a leaking and unreliable Rheem 65SVP15S was replaced with an Ariston PRO RS J 25. The old unit lacked essential safety components and had no prior PUB Certificate. Our team completed the replacement with all required fittings, and a new PUB Certificate was issued under the supervision of a PUB Licensed Plumber.

Before Replacement:

The existing Rheem 65SVP15S was leaking and showed signs of internal wear. It occasionally failed to heat properly. The setup lacked key safety components, including an anti-vacuum valve and a PUB-approved check valve.
After Replacement:

To restore safe and reliable hot water service, we replaced the outdated Rheem 65SVP15S with an Ariston PRO RS J 25 electric storage water heater. This horizontal, wall-mounted unit was selected for its compact form, excellent performance, and ease of service. The installation was completed with all mandatory safety features and fittings to meet current PUB regulations. All works were performed under the supervision of a PUB Licensed Plumber, and a new PUB Certificate was issued upon completion, ensuring that the installation is officially documented and compliant.
Inspection Findings 
- The tank body showed signs of corrosion and active leakage
- Heater performance was unstable and often non-functional
- No anti-vacuum valve was installed, risking internal collapse
- Missing PUB-approved double-check valve on the cold water inlet

Replacement work scope:
- Isolated electrical and water supply
- Removed the faulty Rheem 65SVP15S unit
- Inspected site layout, piping, and wall conditions
- Installed Ariston PRO RS J 25 with secure bracket support
- Fitted anti-vacuum and check valves to meet PUB guidelines
- Replaced old pipework with stainless steel (≤1m)
- Installed stop cock for future servicing
- Connected and tested bonding cable
- Conducted pressure and leak testing
- Documented work and submitted for PUB Certificate


Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:
- All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
- The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
- The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
- The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.
Conclusion:
This Ban Guan Park project highlights the risks of ageing or improperly installed water heaters. The old Rheem unit not only failed to function reliably, but also lacked the basic safety features required by PUB regulations. Without an anti-vacuum valve or check valve, the system posed a safety risk—and it was never backed by a PUB Certificate.
By replacing it with the Ariston PRO RS J 25 and installing all necessary components under a PUB Licensed Plumber, we delivered a safe, code-compliant solution. The new PUB Certificate ensures the installation is fully documented, protecting the homeowner with verified plumbing standards and long-term peace of mind.
