Hot Water Brown: Ariston Andris LUX 15 Replacement at 171 Bedok South Road
A homeowner at 171 Bedok South Road HDB experienced a hot water brown issue. The existing unit lacked proper safety features and had signs of age-related corrosion. Homeone resolved the issue by replacing it with a PUB-compliant Ariston Andris 15 LUX WiFi water heater.

Before Replacement:

The old Ariston heater was at the end of its lifespan, with internal corrosion, rusty hot water output, and no essential PUB-mandated fittings such as a check valve, drainpipe, or bonding cable. These posed potential risks of water contamination and electrical hazards.
After Replacement:

The new Ariston Andris 15 LUX WiFi heater was installed with all safety fittings, including bonding cable, double check valve, gate valve, and drainpipe. The water supply is now safe and clean, and the electrical grounding ensures protection. Fully compliant with PUB regulations.
Inspection Findings 
- Tank corrosion and signs of internal rust
- No check valve, drain pipe, or bonding cable installed
New Components Replacement
- Double Check Valve – Prevents backflow contamination
- Drain Pipe – Safely channels overflow water
- 2.5mm² Cable – Provides essential electrical bonding and supplies a new power supply cable for the heater.
- Earth Bonding – Ensures electrical safety
- Gate Valve – Allows shut-off for maintenance
Replacement work scope:
- Dismantling of old Ariston Andris LUX 15
- Installation of new Ariston Andris 15 LUX WiFi
- Install new safety components: double check valve, gate valve, bonding cable, drainpipe
- Carried out earth bonding with 2.5mm cable
- Secure electrical and plumbing connections
- Final testing for the temperature of the hot water pipe. Pressure testing for both hot and cold water.
- PUB compliance submission upon completion


Our PUB Licensed Plumber has endorsed that the work is done in accordance with the conditions stated below:
- All water service installations must be in accordance with the Public Utilities (Water Supply) Regulations, Singapore Standards 636 for Water Services, and all other relevant statutory requirements.
- The proposed works shall not adversely affect the existing water supply reticulation system.
- The proposed water storage heater is installed in accordance with the specifications and requirements of the manufacturer.
- The installation of double-check valves is safe and effective in preventing backflow and the back-siphonage of water from the storage water heater through the heater inlet pipe, and will be safe for use.
Conclusion:
This replacement was carried out by a Homeone-trained technician and supervised by a PUB-licensed plumber. All works were performed in accordance with PUB regulations to ensure safety, hygiene, and compliance under the Public Utilities Act.
